Pianetta di Barbieri’s signature product, their Mostarda di Frutta, is an iconic take on the traditional Italian delicacy. Which isn’t surprising, considering they’ve been making it for over half a century.
First, they take whole, candied fruits – the precise selection varies depending on the fresh fruit available year on year. Then, the fruits are submerged in an intense mustard syrup for preservation, and a perfect blend of sweet and spicy.
Traditionally Mostarda was served with boiled meats, but we have some alternate serving suggestions for this unique Italian condiment.
Serve with chunks of mortadella as an Aperitivo, with hot sliced roasted meat and with cheese after dinner. No matter how you use these little jewels, they’re sure to impress.
