It’s famous, it’s hearty, it’s utterly Italian. We don’t want anyone to miss out on Bolognese sauce. So our vegan Bolognese stays largely true to tradition – with a base of soffritto (sautéed onions, garlic and carrots) and finely chopped fresh Italian tomatoes. Then we boldly veer off-piste, using the magic of pea protein to create a sauce that’s bursting with flavour and the same satisfying texture as you’d expect from Bologna’s original.

Originating in Bologna, northern Italy, Bolognese is an Italian favourite. A slow-cooked, robust sauce (ragù) traditionally made with ground beef or pork, soffritto (sautéed onions, garlic and carrots), tomatoes and herbs. 

We want everyone to enjoy the comfort of a classic Bolognese, so our Vegan Bolognese Sauce follows the traditional recipe for rich, hearty flavour - but we’ve swapped the meat for clever pea protein that delivers the same satisfying texture.

Our free-from pasta sauce is meat-free, dairy-free, wheat-free and gluten-free.  It can be enjoyed by anyone following a plant-based diet and is intolerant of or chooses not to eat gluten.  

While Bolognese is traditionally paired with tagliatelle, as the flat ribbon-shaped pasta holds the sauce nicely, its rich flavour works beautifully with any pasta you have in the cupboard — ideal for an easy, satisfying weeknight dish.
