It all started in 1950, when the Lamantea family bought their first olive grove in the San Felice region, just outside the sleepy seaside town of Bisceglie. It may have seemed a gamble, but they had noticed that the area promised something special and they wanted to see for themselves. Since then, they’ve been hard at work, proving what they knew to be true – they had found a truly perfect spot here. And it seems their love for their craft is in the Lamantea blood. Through three generations, they have grown their skills and knowledge, expanded their land, and gained a reputation for producing some of the best olive oil in Italy, and in the world.

Since they started all those years ago, the Lamantea family have strived to improve their oil – and to them, that means selecting only the best olives. They grow three varieties - Coratina, Ogliarola and Nocellara Etnea, all with distinct flavours, yet pair well together perfectly to create the Lamantea signature taste. When autumn comes around every year, their groves are harvested by hand to ensure the olives remain intact and retain all of their natural flavours. Then, they’re cold-pressed under the supervision of one of the family members, to ensure they extract extra virgin oil of the highest quality.

To Lamantea, olive oil is more than just taste. It’s an experience of the Italian countryside – of the warm, rolling hills where the olives come from. So their bottles are incredibly important to them. Since 2003, Lamantea has teamed up with local artisans – many of whom have known the family for generations – to create bottles that truly capture that essence of their home. From ceramic bottles shaped and fired in traditional Italian clay ovens, to prints and designs inspired by techniques of the Italian renaissance, they connect their craft with many others to bring the tastes and sights of Italy right in to your kitchen.
