The wonderful Mary Berry brought Twitter to the boil recently when she made a pasta dish using shop-bought Pesto.
Of course, fresh home-made Pesto is delicious in season and when you have plenty of time on your hands. A jar of Pesto is a great store cupboard standby, so that you can rustle up a great dish of food when time is short.
More importantly, it’s the only way to preserve fresh basil, grown in season and full of the flavour of Italy, to enjoy all year round.
If it’s good enough for Christopher Colombus who, it is said, took Pesto with him on his voyage to the New World, it’s certainly good enough for us… and many!
